A growing town has a lot of new doors to watch
Clermont has been adding commercial space quickly, most of it along the US-27 and SR-50 corridors: new plazas, medical and professional office buildings, and the small businesses that fill them. New space often opens with cameras as an afterthought, either none at all or a consumer kit chosen for the grand opening rather than for the building. Either way, when something happens in the parking lot or at the back door, there is no usable footage of it.
A commercial camera system starts from the property rather than from a box count. We walk the site, note the entrances, the lot, the lighting after dark and the blind spots you already know about, and design coverage for those with the camera types the site calls for. That is how we approach every security camera job; this page is about what it looks like for the buildings Clermont has.
Small businesses along US-27 and SR-50
For a shop, a restaurant, a salon or a service business in a plaza, the important views are predictable: the front door and the register, the back door and the receiving area, the parking spaces nearest the entrance, and anywhere cash or stock is handled. A few well-placed wide-angle cameras cover the interior. The lot is often better served by one 360-degree or pan-tilt-zoom camera on the corner of the building than by a row of fixed ones.
Outdoor cameras in Central Florida also have to live with afternoon storms, glare off wet pavement and summer heat, so housings, mounting height and the direction each lens faces are chosen for the site rather than copied from a catalog picture.
Plaza tenants also share walls, lots and landlords. Where the recorder can live, whether a cable can be run above the ceiling, and who has the right to mount a camera on the exterior are settled before anything is drilled. Where a cable run is not practical, the video travels over a wireless link instead.
Medical and professional offices
Clinics, dental practices, law and accounting offices and other professional suites have a different set of concerns. They want to see who is at the door and in the waiting room, cover the reception desk and the corridor to the rear exit, and watch the lot where staff walk to their cars after dark. They do not want cameras in exam rooms or consulting rooms, and placement has to respect that. Recording can stay on a recorder on site in a locked room or go to a hosted system, with remote viewing limited to the people who should have it.
An office that wants to know who opened the back door, and not only what happened in front of it, pairs the cameras with access control. Specified together, the door event and the video of it line up. Retrofitted separately, they rarely do.
System options for a Clermont property
- IP camera systems for new installations, and upgrades of older analog systems that keep the existing coax where it is sound
- Wireless camera links between buildings or across a lot where trenching is not an option
- Indoor and outdoor cameras, including 360-degree and pan-tilt-zoom units for wide areas
- On-premise recording or a hosted system, sized for the retention you need
- Remote viewing from a phone or desktop, with logins only for the people who should have them
- Cabling for the cameras and the recorder, run by the same crew that mounts them

Call and describe the property. We will come out, look at the entrances, the lot and the lighting, and recommend the coverage it needs rather than the largest system that fits.
